Frost’s birthday will be in less than one week. That’s why we are on our third recipe post before the big event. This snack is as simple as the last one and will come in handy on hot summer days. We already had pupcakes, sweet potato snacks and now it’s time for something refreshing.
One thing that I forgot to mention in previous posts was – always check in with your vet about everything you present to your dog. This is very important to those out there who have some allergies or other health problems and, of course, to be 100% sure that dogs can eat it.
So let’s get started on this weeks snack recipe.
- frozen berries (i used strawberries, blueberries and raspberries)
- other fruits (tried out some pineapple)
- 1/2 cup of water
Let’s get started:
As you can see, there are not so many things needed and it’s up to you what fruits, berries or even vegetables you would like to use. For example, I will be using frozen berries such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, bananas and a bit of pineapple. You will need a blender for this. Make sure you don’t use harmful fruits or vegetables as grapes, currants, rhubarb, onions etc. Fruits that contain seeds or pits can be given just without the seeds and pit part – you can give just pulp of the fruit, not plant or seed/pit.
First of all, for each portion (11 cubes) I used 1/2 cup of water for it to blend not too thick. Just pour water in your blender, add handful of berries or fruits and blend it smooth. After you get the right consistency you can pour them into the ice tray and let them freeze overnight. After that, you can present them to your dog or keep them in a box in freezer for later use.
As always, Frost loved these treats. Of course, he didn’t drool for them like for pupcakes or sweet potato snacks, but he still loved to lick them and, after a while, even chew them and eat. In the past hot summers we used just plain ice cubes, but this is way more tasty than just water. Also, one more great thing about this recipe is that you can also save your time and make you dog some smoothies. Isn’t that handy?
